Small Oceanfront City in the Brazilian State of Santa Catarina, Bombinhas takes its name from banging of the waves on the beach. This Southern Brazilian destination offers its visitors wonderful natural attractions, amongst them 26 beaches to suite all different needs, from central to deserted and wild ones. Historical records show that this area was first colonized by Azorean in 1817. During the decade of 60 some people began to delight with the natural beauty of the Municipality of Bombinhas. The first tourist was Leopoldo Zarling, who came here in search of peace for the attainment of fishery. Later, in 1966, he built the first house of Romo (Beach Grave), and followed by the Salesian Fathers, who in 1967 built the house of retreats (Beach of the English). Today Bombinhas is a thriving tourist destination, home to some 10 thousand inhabitants.
